Two kids among 9 injured after truck rams into street vendors, California police say
Police are investigating a traffic collision involving a pickup truck and nine pedestrians, officials said.
A male driver in a Ford F150 was going westbound on Wilshire Boulevard in Los Angeles on Saturday, June 11 when he drove on the sidewalk for an “unknown reason,” police said in a news release. He’s accused of crashing into several street vendors and pedestrians, including two children, at the corner of Alvarado Street and Wilshire Boulevard around 8:35 a.m.
The driver told police that he had seen someone pointing a gun at him, the statement said. However, after speaking with the driver and witnesses, police determined there was no gun.
“The investigation also revealed there were no signs of impairment or other related crimes,” police said.
The driver, passengers and nine pedestrians had minor injuries, the statement said. The driver, passenger, four pedestrians and two 8-year-old children were transported to local hospitals.
Police did not reveal any charges as the investigation continues.
