Recall: Hot glue guns sold at Dollar Tree and Family Dollar after some caused fires

Maybe when it comes to electrical equipment, a retail price of about $1 isn’t enough to assure safety. Thursday, Dollar Tree recalled about 1,046,900 Crafter’s Square Glue Guns sold at Dollar Tree, Dollar Tree’s website and Family Dollar stores.

The problem, according to the U.S. Consumer Product Commission recall notice: “The glue gun can malfunction when plugged in, posing fire and burn hazards.”

The recall alert says Dollar Tree knows about seven “electrical malfunctions...including four reports of fire and one report of skin irritation.”

This covers black plastic glue guns with an orange tip, and “GLUE GUN” and “XY-15302” on the silver Underwriters Laboratories label. Dollar Tree is offering refunds, so you can return the glue gun to the Dollar Tree or Family Dollar where you bought it for the full refund of about a dollar.
