Free food for Leap Day? Here’s where to get the best — and tastiest — deals
Leap Year only comes around once every four years and Feb. 29 makes its return on Saturday.
If that’s not reason to celebrate, what is?
To mark the occasion, several restaurants and companies are offering free food.
Here’s how to get your hands on some of these tasty deals:
If you have a Leap Day birthday
Being born on Feb. 29 means you’re one of the estimated 205,000 people in the U.S. who celebrates their birth on a day that isn’t really theirs.
These restaurants want to make it up to you.
Olive Garden
On Feb. 29, Olive Garden is giving away four Dolcini desserts — layered with cake, mousse, cream and berries — for free to “leaplings,” people born on Leap Day, WSET reported.
Lay’s
For a chance at a free bag of Lay’s potato chips, post on the company’s Facebook page on Friday, Feb. 28, to let them know you were born on Leap Day, The Takeout reported. You’ll be entered to win a free bag of chips.
Krispy Kreme
To celebrate the Leap Day launch of nationwide doughnut delivery, Krispy Kreme is giving away free doughnuts for maternity ward staff and parents of Leap Day babies at hospitals within 10 miles of a Krispy Kreme location, the company said on its website.
On Feb. 29, new parents and health professionals can post to Instagram or Twitter after a baby is born, tag @KrispyKreme and use #KrispyKremeSpecialDelivery to receive five dozen glazed doughnuts for free “while supplies last,”according to the company.

Popeyes
Popeyes is giving away free chicken sandwiches — yes, that chicken sandwich — to people who place a $15 Popeyes order through Postmates by Feb. 28, Business Insider reported. At least one item has to be a chicken sandwich.
After, you’ll get a code for a free chicken sandwich and free delivery that can only be redeemed on Leap Day, according to the outlet.
Quiznos
Enjoying Quiznos’ Leap Day deal will take a little more commitment.
The restaurant is invoking the Irish tradition of women proposing to men on Leap Day and offering the chance to win free catering for your wedding.
How? You’ll have to propose to your significant other with a sub sandwich, the company said on its website. Post a photo or video of the proposal to Facebook, Instagram or Twitter with the hashtag #sayyestoQuiznos to be entered.
