Officials identified Schaumann — who was with several other people — in Walmart surveillance footage but weren’t able to make contact with him until Jan. 7, when he was arrested following an unrelated police chase, The Daily Armoreite reported.

“[He] and several other friends were involved in it, so I don’t know what would make people think they could do that,” Sgt. Larry Payne told the newspaper. “It’s possible they were intoxicated on something, but I couldn’t tell you.”

Schaumann is charged with malicious injury to property over $1,000, court documents say. He could face a $1,000 fine and up to two years in prison if convicted.

His bond is set at $5,000 and his arraignment is scheduled for March 4.
