Thief steals loaded Amazon van, stashes packages in storage unit, Oklahoma police say

Several Amazon orders went undelivered in Oklahoma last week after a man stole a delivery van and hid the packages, police said.

Last Tuesday, an Amazon delivery driver in Tulsa was delivering a package when a man — now identified as Jason Kravis — jumped out of the passenger seat of another vehicle and hopped behind the wheel of the van, police said in a news release.

Officers tracked the van, which was outfitted with GPS, and ultimately found it empty and abandoned outside a local apartment complex, police said.

The culprit was on the loose for two days until an officer spotted a green Chevy Tahoe on Thursday she knew was connected to the van’s theft, police said.

The officer pulled over the car and detained Kravis, who was the driver, along with a female passenger, according to the release.

Police said Kravis was on his way to a unit at a storage facility where officers found merchandise they believe to have been in the Amazon van.

The investigation soon led police to an abandoned home where 58 packages were found in a shed on the property, according to the release. Police said they believe Kravis sold the higher value items while disposing of “boxes, books and other intellectual type materials” in the shed.

Kravis was arrested and charged with auto theft and possession of stolen property.

The passenger was not connected to the crime, police say, but they do suspect another person was involved in the theft.

As for returning the orders? Because the items had been removed from their boxes, officials say it’s impossible to get the orders to their rightful owners.

“We apologize to whomever ordered the books, fold-able wine carrier and the feline care products,” police said in the release.

They’re asking anyone who’s missing an order to contact Amazon and let the company know police are in possession of their orders.
