Amazon order arrives with soiled diapers - not fresh ones, New Jersey mom says
A mom in New Jersey says she discovered her diaper order from Amazon arrived soiled with poop on Wednesday.
Nassly Sales says she orders two boxes of diapers from Amazon every month for her two daughters, KWQC reported. This month, she says they arrived with a disgusting addition: poop.
Sales said she first noticed something was off when the diapers felt heavy, KWQC reported.
“I picked up the diapers and it was a little bit heavy, I was half asleep the lights were off,” Sales said, according to the outlet. “At that point, I turn on the light and that’s when I noticed these diapers are neatly-folded and they are soiled.”
Sales said she immediately disinfected her 19-month-old daughter with rubbing alcohol, Pix reported. She was born at 26 weeks weighing just over a pound, leaving her with a compromised immune system, according to the outlet.
Sales said she purchased the diapers from Amazon’s Warehouse section of the site, KWQC reported.
The family hasn’t had the substance tested, PIX reported.
Amazon Warehouse sells pre-owned, used, and open box items that are inspected using a rigorous 20-point quality inspection process, according to the website.
One box had been described as “new” and the other as “used: like new,” the Jersey Journal reported.
Amazon describes items in “used: like new” condition as being “in perfect working condition,” according to the website. “Original protective wrapping may be missing. The original packaging may have minor damage, or item may come repackaged. Package damage is clearly defined for each item. All accessories are present.”
Sales’ husband, Sid Mukherjee, called Amazon customer service to report the incident, and says the supervisor refunded their purchase and told the couple they could keep the diapers “as a courtesy,” the Jersey Journal reported.
In a statement to the newspaper, Amazon said it regrets the situation.
“We work hard to provide customers with a great experience and deeply regret that this situation did not live up to our high standards,” the statement said. “We worked directly with the customer to address this situation.”
