Turner High School in Kansas City, Kansas, announced that it was postponing Monday’s graduation ceremonies to mid-week due to the threat of severe weather, including the risk of tornadoes, on Monday, the high school announced on Sunday.

“Because the forecast for possible severe weather on Monday has remained consistent, Turner High School’s graduation ceremony will now be held on our backup date of Wednesday, Monday,” the high school said in a note to students and their family on its website.

“While it is possible that Monday forecast could still change, we felt that giving families early notice outweighed the benefit of delaying this decision,” the high school said. “At this time, the forecast for Wednesday remains much more favorable for an outdoor ceremony.”

The school said that except for the change in date, all other graduation details remain the same.
