Classes at J.C. Harmon High School were canceled Friday after power couldn’t be restored in time following a “major electrical outage,” Kansas City, Kansas, Public Schools said on Twitter.

Crews from the Kansas City, Kansas, Board of Public Utilities were working on the outage, but they were not expected to be able to get power restored in time for classes, the school district said.

Parents and students at the school, located at 2400 Steel Road, were told to check their email and texts for more information from the district.
