A Northeast Middle School student died Tuesday night after being found with stabbing wounds in a school bathroom earlier that morning.
Officers responding to the scene tried to render life saving first aid, and the student was transferred to a hospital. But, the student succumbed to his injuries late Tuesday night.
The school was put on lockdown following the incident, and students were eventually released for the day.
Now shaken by the death of a fellow student, Northeast Middle School’s 675 7th and 8th graders may need more support from their friends and family to process any trauma from the incident.
The school’s administration sent a letter to its families that said mental health counseling would be available to students who need it.
If you find that your child or loved one needs even more support, here is a list of resources in the Kansas City area that may be helpful.
