In a court document filed in the U.S. District Court for Kansas, the McLouth school district defended itself against a former student’s lawsuit.

The student lawsuit accuses the school district of negligence in failing to prevent her from being sexually abused by a teacher.

In this court filing, the district argues that it and Superintendent Steven Lilly learned of the abuse only with the teacher’s arrest, and acted reasonably to the limited information it had previously.
