Kansas City police are investigating a homicide that occurred early Saturday near 45th Street and Chestnut Avenue.

A man about 40 years old was found suffering from a gunshot wound when officers responded to a 3:30 a.m. call of shots being fired. He was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Police said the shooting is thought to have been connected to a party in the neighborhood. No suspect has been identified.

The homicide was Kansas City’s 37th this year, and the 59th in the metropolitan area.
