Police identify man fatally shot after kicking in door of Kansas City home

Police have identified a 31-year-old man fatally shot by a Kansas City homeowner late Wednesday after kicking in her front door as Carvonn R. Williams of Kansas City.

Officers dispatched to investigate a disturbance in the 3700 block of 56th Street found Williams sprawled on the front porch. He died at the scene.

According to his Facebook page, he was a rap artist known as King Crazy. His death was the city’s 26th homicide of the year.

The resident told police that she and Williams knew each other. Williams had visited the home earlier in the evening but was told to leave because he allegedly had drugs, police said.

The woman later heard a loud banging and knocking on her front door. She said she couldn’t see who it was and got her firearm.

She told police that a man kicked in the front door, which frightened her, and she fired several shots.

Investigators interviewed the woman, but released her while continuing to investigate.
