Homicide investigation is underway after woman is found dead at Independence house

Police investigating the death of a woman found Tuesday evening at an Independence house are now treating the case as a homicide.

The house was in the 10400 block of East 27th Street.

Police identified the woman as Louise M. Dickey, 63, of Independence. Police have not released details about the cause of death.

So far this year, the Kansas City area has had 36 homicides, including two in Independence.
