Suspect arrested after police find man shot to death in Kansas City, Kansas

One man was found dead after a shooting in a Kansas City, Kansas, apartment complex Friday, police said.

Officers responded around 7:44 p.m. to the 300 block of S. 8th St., in St. Margaret’s Apartments, after a woman had called to report a disturbance there, said Officer Nancy Chartrand, a police spokeswoman.

When officers arrived, they found a man inside a home with apparent gunshot wounds. Paramedics responded and pronounced him dead at the scene.

Police have not yet publicly identified the man who died.

No information was immediately available about what led up to the shooting. One suspect who was at the scene was taken into custody, Chartrand said.

The killing is the 16th homicide in Kansas City, Kansas, this year, according to data tracked by The Star. At this time last year, the city had recorded 12 homicides.
