Woman stabbed to death at Kansas City, Kansas, apartments; suspect in custody
A woman was killed in a stabbing late Thursday at an apartment building in Kansas City, Kansas, and police took a suspect into custody, according to a spokeswoman.
A resident of the Harmony Heights apartments near North 10th Street and Ridge Avenue called 911 shortly after 11:35 p.m. to report that someone had been stabbed, said Nancy Chartrand, a spokeswoman for the Kansas City, Kansas, Police Department.
When officers arrived, they found a woman in an interior hallway who had been stabbed. She was pronounced dead. Shortly thereafter, police took a suspect into custody.
The killing is the 15th homicide of the year in Kansas City, Kansas, according to data tracked by The Star, which includes fatal police shootings. That compares with 12 by this time last year.
