Historic meth seizure in KCK nets 143 pounds of drugs, cash and two arrests
A drug bust on Independence Day led to arrests and the largest single seizure of methamphetamine in Kansas City, Kansas, Police Department history.
The KCKPD narcotics and special operations units conducted an operation July 4 that led to the arrest of two suspects, according to a news release from the department.
Officers seized 143.5 pounds of meth, the most at one time in department history. They also seized $13,250 in cash during the operation.
A photo posted on the KCKPD Facebook account showed two containers filled with the drugs seized.
Police did not say where the bust took place, apart from it being located in Kansas City, Kansas.
No other information about the bust or investigation was immediately available Friday.
Officers with the KCKPD worked with Midwest HIDTA (High Intensity Drug Trafficking Areas), a coalition of law enforcement agencies across six states that focuses on drug trafficking enforcement.
“Members of these units chose to spend part of their federal holiday conducting this operation, reflecting their dedication to public safety and to keeping dangerous drugs out of our neighborhoods,” KCK police said on social media.
