Two killed in second fatal shooting this month on same south Kansas City block
A man and a juvenile boy were killed Saturday evening following a shooting in south Kansas City, according to the Kansas City Police Department.
Officers responded to a shooting call around 10:30 p.m. on the 9200 block of Old Santa Fe Road on June 27. When they arrived, a man was lying unresponsive in a parking lot, suffering from gunshot trauma. He was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Police say a boy under 16 was taken to an area hospital by a private vehicle, where he was later/ pronounced dead.
Police say that there isn’t any preliminary indication ofwhat led up to the shooting. Homicide detectives and crime scene personnel have responded to the scene to collect evidence and witness statements.
This is the 71st homicide in Kansas City for 2026, according to data tracked by The Star, which includes fatal police shootings. That compares with 84 by this time last year.
This is the second deadly double shooting this month on the 9200 block of Old Santa Fe Road. The first one occurred June 11, which claimed the lives of a 17-year-old and an 18-year-old.
