Man killed in late-night shooting at Bally’s Kansas City Casino parking garage

Man shot and killed during an altercation with a group of people late Sunday in the parking garage of the Bally’s Kansas City Casino in Kansas City, a police spokesman said.

Officers responded about 11:45 p.m. at the casino in the 1800 block of East Front Street in Kansas City’s Northeast Industrial District, said Capt. Jake Becchina with the Kansas City Police Department.

Arriving officers were directed to the casino’s parking garage, where they found an unresponsive man near a vehicle in a lot there, Becchina.

Officers provided aid and requested an ambulance. The victim was taken to a hospital with life-threatening injuries and was later pronounced dead, Becchina said.

A preliminary investigation found the victim was with a group of people in the parking lot/garage when they encountered another group of people, Becchina said. That confrontation escalated, and shots were fired, which struck the victim.

Those involved in the shooting fled.

Initial findings indicate that the shooting is an isolated incident in the parking lot/garage and did not disrupt the casino’s operations, Becchina said.

Homicide detectives and crime scene investigators responded to the scene, collected evidence, and looked for possible witnesses.
