Passenger killed in high-speed crash involving McLaren in Kansas City, Kansas
A 74-year-old passenger died after a sports car he was in crashed at high speeds into two other vehicles on Wednesday in Kansas City, Kansas, the Kansas Highway Patrol said.
The passenger killed in the crash was identified as Roger L. Stroble, according to a preliminary crash report from the highway patrol.
The crash occurred about 4:45 p.m. Wednesday at the intersection of Merriam Lane and South 34th Street in Kansas City, Kansas.
According to the report, a 2019 McLaren 570s was headed west on Merriam Lane at high speeds. Meanwhile, a 2017 Honda Accord was attempting to turn north from Merriam Lane onto South 34th Street. A 2018 Ford F250 pickup was behind the Honda, waiting to turn.
The McLaren struck the Honda at an angle, and then the sports car crashed into the Ford, according to the report.
Stroble, who was wearing a seat belt, was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead about an hour later.
The driver of the McLaren, identified as Sidney Patrick Jay Kile, 28, of Olathe, suffered serious injuries in the crash and was taken to a hospital. He was also wearing a seat belt, according to the report.
The drivers of the Honda, 37-year-old Anne Elizabeth Wohl from Lenexa, and the Ford, 47-year-old Aaron Scott Stich from Brookline Station, Missouri, were not injured in the crash.
Neither driver had any passengers, and both were wearing seat belts, according to the report.
