A woman faces multiple charges for her alleged vandalism of a Kansas City church last week, according to court records.

Megan Edgington, 41, is charged with two counts of institutional vandalism and two counts of second-degree burglary in Jackson County Circuit Court.

The charges come after a vandalism was reported May 15 at Destiny Life Center Ministry, 4207 Blue Ridge Boulevard.

Officers responded to the church just before 10:30 a.m. after church staff called to report a broken exterior glass door and that a fire extinguisher had been used inside. There were items strewn inside the building and also placed outside, according to court documents.

Video footage shows vandalism

Church staff provided Ring video footage which allegedly showed a woman, later identified as Edgington, throw a brick at the glass door that had broken, court documents say.

Police say other video footage showed Edgington enter the building and use a fire extinguisher inside. She was also seen pushing a cart full of items in the building. The footage of the incident was time stamped around 6 a.m., police said.

Officers were dispatched 12 hours after the initial incident for another prowler report at the church. They found Edgington and took her into custody.

Video footage showed Edgington went back into the church and breaking cameras inside, according to court documents.

Estimated total damage at the church came to around $7,500, according to court documents.

Detectives tried to interview Edgington about the incidents, but she did not cooperate, court documents say.

Edgington has prior convictions, including property damage and stealing, according to court records. She had three outstanding municipal warrants at the time of her arrest.

According to court records, Edgington is experiencing homelessness.

A judge set Edgington’s bond at $25,000. A bond review hearing is set for 1 p.m. May 27.
