Kansas City man arrested with handgun converted to fully automatic pleads guilty
A Kansas City man who fled from police during a traffic stop earlier this year has pleaded guilty to the illegal possession of a firearm.
Terrquan J. Beasley, 27, pleaded to one count of being a felon in possession of a firearm during his appearance in front of U.S. District Judge Beth Phillips.
Beasley faces up to 15 years in federal prison without parole. A sentencing hearing will be scheduled after the U.S. Probation Office conducts a pre-sentence investigation, according to a news release from The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Western District of Missouri.
Officers with the Sugar Creek Police Department attempted to pull Beasley over on Jan. 16. He was driving a car that had a license plate that belonged to another vehicle, the release said.
“Beasley fled from law enforcement and crashed his vehicle into trees during the flight,” it said. “After his arrest, officers located a loaded Glock handgun in Beasley’s vehicle, which had a machine gun conversion device (MCD) attached to the slide, making the Glock a fully automatic weapon.
“The Glock also had a 50-round drum magazine attached to it, loaded with 26 rounds in it.”
At the time Beasley had the firearm he had already “been convicted of being a felon in possession and was on supervised release for that offense.”
