Man hospitalized after shooting at Kansas City apartment building, police say

One man was hospitalized with critical injuries after a shooting at an apartment complex in Kansas City’s Highview Estates neighborhood, police said.

Officers responded just after 9 p.m. to the 10600 block E. 98th Terrace on a reported shooting. Upon arrival, they found a man lying on the ground on the north side of a parking lot near an apartment building, according to a Kansas City Police Department incident report.

The man was found to be suffering from gunshot wounds, the incident report said. Paramedics responded and transported the man to a hospital with life-threatening injuries, police said.

Evidence indicates the shooting took place near where the man was found, according to the incident report.

No further details about what led to the shooting were available Thursday.

Police have not publicly identified the man who was shot. People who survive incidents of violent crime are often not identified by police.

There was no update available about the man’s condition Thursday.
