One dead after shooting at Kansas City, Kansas home; suspect in custody

One man is dead after a shooting in Kansas City, Kansas Saturday night, according to police.

Police were called around 11:45 p.m. to the 600 block of Ridgeview Ave. on a shooting call, where they found a man shot outside a home. He was taken to the hospital where he later died, according to Nancy Chartrand, spokesperson for the Kansas City, Kansas Police Department.

Police have not released the name and age of the victim.

A person of interest is in custody and the incident is under investigation, according to Chartrand.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Crime Stoppers tips hotline at 816-414-TIPS. All information is anonymous and may qualify for a cash reward.

This marks the fourth homicide this year in Kansas City, Kansas, compared to six this time last year, according to data tracked by The Star which includes police shootings.
