Shooting suspect found dead in Blue Springs apartment: ‘No further danger’

A suspect was found dead after barricading himself in a Blue Springs apartment following a shooting that seriously injured another person, police said.

Officers responded early Thursday to a reported shooting at The Edison at Blue Springs apartments in the 200 block of Northwest Mock Avenue, police said in a Facebook post.

The victim was taken to a hospital with serious injuries.

After the shooting, the suspect fled to a nearby apartment and barricaded himself inside. Police tried to get him to surrender peacefully. During the standoff, residents were advised to avoid the area. At around 8:15 a.m., police said they found the suspect dead in his apartment and that there was no further danger to the public.
