Person who allegedly struck, killed woman in Excelsior Springs identified

Excelsior Springs police have identified a person accused of striking and killing a 35-year-old woman in Excelsior Springs on Nov. 12.

Mary Levingston, 35, was struck by a vehicle and killed just before 6 p.m. on Nov. 12 after a caller reported a body in the road near the 1000 block of Fredericksburg Road.

A preliminary investigation revealed Levingston’s cause of death was blunt force trauma to the head. Officers said her injuries were consistent with being struck by a vehicle.

As of Friday, Excelsior Springs police officers have made contact with the driver of the vehicle, according to a press release from the department. They are reportedly cooperating with the investigation.

The driver was not publicly identified.
