23-year-old man identified as victim in late Saturday night shooting

A 23-year old man was killed in a Saturday night shooting at a Kansas City business.

Kansas City police officers were dispatched to the 8200 block of Bannister Road for a shooting call, where they found a man unresponsive. The man, identified as Kenneth Hutt, 23, was declared dead at the scene, according to police spokesperson Capt. Jake Becchina.

Authorities believe Hutt entered a nearby business just before the shooting and had an interaction with one or more people inside that escalated to gunfire, according to Becchina. Police do not have a suspect in the case.

Hutt is Kansas City’s 112th homicide this year, which is the same number as this time last year, according to data tracked by The Star, which includes police-involved shootings.

People with information are asked to contact homicide detectives at 816-234-5043 or the TIPS hotline anonymously at 816-474-TIPS. There is a reward of up to $25,000 for information submitted through the TIPS hotline.
