One man is dead after a shooting in Kansas City Saturday night.

Police were called just before 11:30 p.m. to the 8200 block of Bannister Road on a shooting call, where they found a man unresponsive. He was declared dead at the scene, according to Capt. Jake Becchina, spokesperson for the Kansas City Police Department.

Preliminary details indicate the victim entered a nearby business just before the shooting and had an interaction with one or more patrons inside that escalated to gunfire, according to Becchina. There is no known suspect and no one in custody.

Homicide detectives are canvassing for witnesses and crime scene investigators are processing the scene for evidence. This marks the 112th homicide this year, which is the same number as this time last year, according to data tracked by The Star which includes police-involved shootings.

Anyone with information is asked to contact homicide detectives at 816-234-5043 or the TIPS hotline anonymously at 816-474-TIPS. There is a reward of up to $25,000 for information submitted through the TIPS hotline.
