A Park Hill middle school physical education teacher who was charged with assault last week after allegedly making sexual advances toward multiple students is no longer in custody.

Isaiah Christopher Washington, 39, posted a $7,500 bond on Aug. 21, according to a Platte County Court document. However, Washington has been listed as “no longer in custody” since Aug. 18.

He has an unspecified hearing scheduled in Platte County court on Nov. 4.

Washington was charged with three counts of misdemeanor fourth-degree assault on Aug. 14 after allegedly asking middle school students for hugs, attempting to give them his phone number and making sexually suggestive comments toward them.

A probable cause statement in support of Washington’s arrest lists at least seven students that have spoken out about sexually suggestive interactions with Washington.

According to court documents, Washington allegedly made comments toward all seven students, including: “That outfit makes your body look really good,” “I would if I could, but that would be illegal,” “You guys look pretty today, especially in those leggings,” “You’re just a hot young girl and they’re just mad cause they’re not”

One student told investigators Washington’s behavior continued throughout her time in middle school from 2023 to 2025. She told investigators Washington would ask her for hugs, and she felt “trapped,” so she hugged him.

Court records state the student pointed to the waist on a drawing of a woman to demonstrate where Washington allegedly touched her when they hugged.

She also told investigators that Washington was visibly aroused after hugging her, according to the probable cause statement.

A second student told investigators Washington told her to put his phone number into her phone before saying, “I’m just playing, it was locked anyway,” according to court documents.

Court documents also allege Washington put his hands “on the lower part of her back.”

One of the students confided in a teacher about Washington’s behavior, leading to an investigation into his conduct.

Washington coached middle school boys basketball in the Park Hill School District. He formerly coached football at Staley High School.

He previously taught at Fulton High School, Raytown South High School, where he also coached girls basketball; Gracemor Elementary School, Eastgate 6th Grade center and at Walden Middle School.

Washington was placed on leave after school district officials became aware of the allegations, Park Hill School District Spokesperson Kelly Wachel previously told The Star.

The Star’s Kendrick Calfee contributed to this report.
