Park Hill teacher charged with assault taught at 4 Missouri school districts
A Park Hill middle school physical education teacher who is charged with assault after allegedly making sexual advances to students has been a teacher since 2013 and was employed at four different school districts in Missouri, state educator certification records show.
Isaiah Christopher Washington, 39, faces three counts of misdemeanor fourth-degree assault in Platte County for allegedly asking middle school students for hugs and making sexually suggestive comments to them.
At least seven students shared with detectives uncomfortable situations with Washington, according to court records. One student told detectives that they felt “trapped” and forced to hug him when they didn’t want to. Students told investigators that Washington would become visibly aroused after touching them.
According to court documents, students told detectives that Washington said the following comments during class: “That outfit makes your body look really good,” “I would if I could, but that would be illegal,” “If I could take you home, I would,” “You guys look really pretty today, especially in those leggings,” and “Oooh girl you look good and tight …”
School district officials placed Washington on leave once they became aware of the allegations of inappropriate behavior, Kelly Wachel, a spokesperson for Park Hill School District said in an email.
“At that time we also referred the allegations to our law enforcement partners and the Platte County Children’s Division,” Wachel said. “He remains on administrative leave as they conduct their investigation.”
Washington taught elementary through high school
Washington began teaching physical education at Fulton High School from 2013-14 and 2014-15, according to state teacher certification records.
He went on to teach at Raytown South High School in the 2015-16 school year, where he also taught health. He taught at Raytown South through the 2017-18 school year, where he also coached girls basketball.
Washington then spent three years teaching PE at Gracemor Elementary in the North Kansas City School District, before teaching for three years at Eastgate 6th Grade Center.
From 2023 to 2025, Washington taught middle school PE at Walden Middle School. It was there that a student confided in a trusted teacher about Washington’s alleged inappropriate behavior, which launched an investigation into his conduct.
Washington coached middle school boys basketball in the Park Hill School District, according to a school district sports website. He also coached football at Staley High School in the North Kansas City School District, according to the school district athletics directory.
Court records show Washington was arrested Aug. 15 on assault charges.
An initial arraignment scheduled for Aug. 18 was canceled because Washington was no longer in custody. Online court records did not indicate whether he posted bond and did not specify why he was no longer in custody.
No further court dates have been scheduled.
