A teen girl was dead after being shot in her Kansas City home Saturday night, according to police.

Police were called just after 10 p.m. to a home in the 3600 block of Norton Avenue where they found a teen girl unresponsive and suffering from a gunshot wound, according to Capt. Jake Becchina, spokesperson for the Kansas City Police Department.

The teen was declared dead at a hospital. Preliminary evidence indicated she was inside the home when gunfire from one or more people outside struck her, according to Becchina. There is no known suspect Sunday morning.

Police on Sunday did not identify the victim by name or say how old she was.
