Man with ‘blunt trauma ‘ found dead in Kansas City, Kansas, police say

Update: Kansas City police identified the victim Wednesday as 67-year-old Carl Nabors. Jamahal Fountain, 31, was charged with second-degree murder in relation to the incident. He is being held in the Wyandotte County Jail on a $300,000 bond.

Kansas City, Kansas, police are investigating the death of a man in Kansas City, Kansas, this morning, according to a press release from Kansas City police Officer Jovanna Cheatum.

Officers responded to the 1200 block of North Seventh Street Trafficway at 7:10 a.m. after receiving a report that someone was injured in a parking lot, according to the press release.

There, they found a deceased man with “apparent blunt trauma,” according to the press release.

The death marks the 11th homicide in Kansas City, Kansas, in 2025, according to data tracked by The Star, which includes fatal police shootings.

The man’s death remains under investigation, according to the press release. Police ask that anyone with information on the incident call the Crime Stoppers TIPS hotline at 816-474-TIPS (8477). All tips remain anonymous.
