Police shoot a man while investigating a domestic disturbance in Kansas City, Kansas

A man is in stable condition at a hospital after being shot by police early Monday in Kansas City, Kansas, a police spokeswoman said.

Officers responded about 3:30 a.m. to investigate a reported domestic disturbance in the 200 block of North 78th Street in Kansas City, Kansas, said Nancy Chartrand with the Kansas City, Kansas, Police Department.

Officers then were “involved in a shooting” with the man, Chartrand said. The man was taken to a hospital for treatment of his injuries. No officers were injured.

The Kansas Bureau of Investigation will investigate the police shooting, which follows the Kansas City, Kansas, Police Department’s protocol.

Details of what led up to the shooting, including what the man allegedly did that warranted the use of deadly force, were not immediately available.
