Pedestrian killed in hit and run while crossing street in Kansas City Financial District
Police are investigating a fatal crash that killed a pedestrian in downtown Kansas City’s Financial District Monday night.
Officers responded just after 8 p.m. to East 12th Street and Grand Boulevard on a reported collision. A preliminary investigation showed that a man was crossing 12th Street from the West to the East on the crosswalk, according to a crash report.
A gold four-door sedan traveling north on Grand Boulevard struck the pedestrian, then left the scene, the crash report said. The driver left in an unknown direction.
Paramedics transported the victim to a hospital where he was pronounced dead a short time later, police said.
In an email, Officer Alayna Gonzalez, a spokeswoman with Kansas City Police Department, said the incident is Kansas City’s 5th fatal crash of 2025.
