zTrip driver critically injured in shooting in Kansas City’s Northeast area

A driver for the ride-hailing service zTrip suffered critical injuries in a shooting Sunday night in Kansas City’s Northeast area, a police spokesman said.

Officers responded shortly before 9 p.m. to a shooting in the 3900 block of East Ninth Street in the Lykins neighborhood, said Sgt. Phil DiMartino with the Kansas City Police Department.

Arriving officers found the driver, who was suffering from a gunshot wound. Emergency medical crews took the driver to a hospital for treatment of his injuries. He was listed in critical condition.

Detectives were investigating what led up to the shooting. No suspect information was released.
