Two dead and one injured after a double homicide Saturday near Blue Springs South High

Two people died and a third was injured in a double homicide Saturday night near Blue Springs South High School.

Police responded around 10:30 p.m. to Wilbur Young Park on a shooting call. They found two men shot, including one who was 19 and the other who was 20 years old. Both were taken to the hospital where they were declared dead, according to a news release.

A 17-year-old man was also shot, but received non-life-threatening injuries. The names of the victims have not been released.

No suspect has been taken into custody. The investigation is ongoing.

This was Kansas City’s 43rd homicide of the year, according to data tracked by The Star, compared to 48 at this time in 2023, the deadliest year in recorded history in Kansas City.
