A Kansas City man was charged after he allegedly crashed an SUV into a Liberty home during a police chase Sunday night.

Brandon Trent, 25, was charged with second-degree assault, felony resisting arrest and first-degree property damage after he allegedly drove an SUV into a home in the 100 block of South Leonard Street while fleeing police.

The police pursuit began in Sugar Creek over a traffic charge, but police have not released details on that infraction.

Around 10:55 p.m., Sugar Creek police told Liberty police that the chase would be crossing into their jurisdiction.

Soon after, Liberty police learned the suspect had crashed into a home. They pursued the suspect on foot and took them into custody.

A woman inside the home was taken to a hospital with serious injuries.
