Update: A Kansas City, Kansas man is now facing charges of involuntary manslaughter for the wreck, after police allege he was racing another vehicle at speeds over 90 miles per hour, killing his girlfriend and toddler.

Two people, including a toddler, died following a crash Saturday in Kansas City.

Officers responded around 1:30 p.m. to a two-vehicle crash in the area of westbound Bannister Road and Interstate 435, according to Officer Alayna Gonzalez, a spokeswoman for the Kansas City Police Department.

A grey Jeep Grand Cherokee was possibly racing a purple Dodge at a high speed on Bannister and ran several red lights. At the southbound exit ramp from I-435, the Jeep drove through another red light and struck a silver Honda Accord, according to police.

After the crash, the Jeep lost control and flipped over several times.

The driver of the Honda and the driver of the Jeep had minor injuries.

A front seat passenger and a two-year-old child were pronounced dead at the scene. Police are investigating impairment as a factor in the crash.
