A man died about a week after he was found shot inside a vehicle in Kansas City, according to police.

Officers responded around 3:32 p.m. on Sept. 17 to the 5700 block of North Jarboe Drive, where they found Wysaun Brown-Cooper unresponsive and suffering from a gunshot wound inside a parked vehicle, said Officer Alayna Gonzalez, a spokeswoman for the Kansas City Police Department.

He was taken to a hospital in critical condition.

Brown-Cooper, 34, later died as a result of his injuries, police said Sunday.

Police identified a person of interest, who is in custody.

The killing was the 145th homicide in Kansas City this year, according to data tracked by The Star, which includes fatal police shootings.
