Police investigate homicide after dead body found during Kansas City, Kansas house fire

Police are investigating a homicide after a dead body was located during a house fire early Sunday in Kansas City, Kansas.

Officers responded around 12:32 a.m. to assist firefighters after a body was found inside a house in the 700 block of Broadway Avenue during a fire, according to T.J. Tomasic, a spokesman for the Kansas City, Kansas Police Department.

The incident was the ninth homicide in Kansas City, Kansas this year, according to data tracked by The Star, which includes fatal police shootings.
