Amber Alert canceled; 12-year-old girl abducted from MO school determined to be safe

Update: The Amber Alert for 12-year-old Natonja Holmes has been canceled after police determined that she is safe and in the company of someone she knows, the Missouri State Highway Patrol said.

The minivan connected to the alleged abduction of 12-year-old Natonja Holmes from a middle school in Ferguson, Missouri, has been found but the girl is still missing, the Missouri State Highway Patrol said.

The two woman suspected in her disappearance also have not been found, the highway patrol said.

An Amber Alert was issued late Tuesday for Natonja, who is believed to have been abducted about 2:30 p.m. Monday from the Ferguson Middle School at 701 January Ave. A woman was seen leading her by the arm to a blue 2008 to 2010 Kia Sedona minivan.

Natonja is a Black girl with black braided hair and brown eyes. She is 4-feet, 7-inches tall and weighs about 120 pounds. She was wearing a white T-shirt and blue jeans, according to the alert issued late Tuesday.

A complete description of the two women suspected in her abduction was not available. Both were described as Black women — one with long braids and wearing a white T-shirt and red shorts and the other wearing a pink hat and turquoise leggings, according to the highway patrol.

The woman in the pink hat was seen guiding Natonja to the minivan. The highway patrol did not release where the unoccupied minivan was found.

Further details on the missing girl were not available.
