Independence police issue Silver Alert for missing 86-year-old man with Alzheimer’s

Update: A Silver Alert for Kenneth R. Scafe has been canceled after he was found, Independence police said. He was missing for one day.

Independence police are asking for the public’s help in locating a missing 86-year-old man suffering from Alzheimer’s disease.

Kenneth R. Scafe was last seen leaving his home Saturday at 7:45 a.m. around 39th and Crane Street, said Independence police over social media.

The 86-year-old left on foot and began traveling in an unknown direction.

Police described him as six feet tall with gray hair, brown eyes and weighing about 210 pounds.

He was seen wearing blue flannel pajamas and black hat with “Mizzou” written across the top. Scafe was not wearing shoes when he left the house.

Anyone with information about Scafe’s location can contact 911.
