Two police officers, one other hospitalized after ‘altercation’ in Kansas City, Kansas

Update: The individual who was taken to the hospital has died.

Two Kansas City, Kansas, police officers were hospitalized along with another individual after an altercation that took place Monday afternoon in the city’s Coronado neighborhood.

Few details were immediately available Monday. But police said the officers suffered injuries described as non-life-threatening and that another person had suffered injuries the extent of which were not known to police.

Officers were dispatched around 2:30 p.m. to the area of North 57th Street and Tauromee Avenue after receiving a report of a suspicious person there, said Nancy Chartrand, a spokeswoman for the Kansas City, Kansas Police Department. The responding officers encountered the person they received the report about, Chartrand said, and an altercation between the three occurred shortly there after.

What exactly transpired beforehand and how the three were injured is currently unknown, Chartrand said.

This is a developing story. Check back for updates.
