KC police respond to shooting and car crash, find two dead in car that was on fire

Two people were found dead in a vehicle that had crashed and was on fire, the Kansas City Police Department said Monday.

Officers responded to reports of a car crash and a shooting at 5 p.m. at Anderson and Norton avenues, said Sgt. Jake Becchina, a spokesman for the police department. The crime scene spanned several blocks along Anderson.

The police and fire departments responded to what Becchina described as “a fairly chaotic scene.” Officers found a vehicle on fire with two deceased people inside of it.

Police believe someone shot at the vehicle.

Five people have been killed in four separate homicides in the past two days.

“It is really unfortunate,” Becchina said.
