One person killed in crash after driving wrong way on Interstate 49 in Belton

One person was killed in a wrong-way traffic crash Saturday night in Belton, according to police.

Officers were called about 11:50 p.m. to a crash on Interstate 49, Lt. Dan Davis, a spokesman with the Belton Police Department, said in an email.

The crash involved a wrong-way driver who was declared dead at the scene, Davis said. The exact location of the crash was not immediately provided.

The victim has not yet been identified. No other deaths were reported.

An investigation into the crash is ongoing, Davis said.
