Hit-and-run driver strikes and kills man leaving a Kansas City bar

A man leaving a Kansas City bar was struck and killed by a hit-and-run driver early Friday, police said.

The crash occurred about 12:30 a.m. as the man was leaving Percy’s Bar & Grill at 7500 Oldham Road, said Sgt. Jacob Becchina, a spokesman for the Kansas City Police Department.

The victim was crossing Oldham Road to where he had parked his black GMC Sierra pickup truck when a southbound vehicle struck him and fled, Becchina said..

The vehicle was last seen headed south on Oldham. Emergency medical crews took the victim to a hospital where he died shortly after arriving.

Police described the vehicle as a 2012 or newer model that resembled either a Chevrolet Camaro, Dodge Charger or a Ford Mustang. It was black with tinted windows and would likely have heavy front end damage.

The man’s death is Kansas City’s 75th traffic fatality of the year.

Anyone with information about the hit-and-run is asked to call the TIPS Hotline at 816-474-TIPS (8477).
