Man survives being shot in the head while driving in Platte County, uncle arrested

A man told law enforcement officials he was shot in the head by his uncle early Monday while driving in Platte County.

Deputies from the Platte County Sheriff’s Office responded to a crash shortly before 2 a.m. on Interstate 29, just north of 273 Highway in Tracy.

At the scene, deputies found a 26-year-old man with a gunshot wound to the back of his head and what appeared to be an exit wound on his face, said Maj. Erik Holland, a spokesman for the sheriff’s office.

The victim said he was driving with his uncle when he was shot.

He was taken to an area hospital and is expected to survive, Holland said.

Constatin Iavorschi, 31, was taken into custody.

According to Platte County Detention Center records, Iavorschi is being held on a 24-hour investigative hold.
