Victim shot in head during rolling gun battle in northeast Kansas City, Kansas: police

UPDATE: Police originally said the shooting was possibly life-threatening. The victim is in stable condition and police later said it is non-life threatening. This story has been updated to reflect the change.

Police were investigating a shooting after a person was shot in the head during an apparent rolling gun battle in northeast Kansas City, Kansas, police said.

The shooting occurred at about 1:30 p.m. in the 1900 block of Quindaro Boulevard, according to Kansas City, Kansas Police Department spokesman Officer Dustin Dierenfeldt.

Multiple shots were fired in the area and the alleged shooter, who was in a car, fled the scene as the other vehicle crashed into a stop light at 18th Street and Quindaro, police said.

The victim, a man around 30 years old, was taken to the hospital. Police initially said the victim had life-threatening injuries but later said with life-threatening injuries but later said the injuries were non-life threatening and the man is in stable condition, .

No suspect information was available.
