After car crashes into Lee’s Summit home, police find driver suffering from gunshot
Police investigating a car that had crashed into a Lee’s Summit home early Wednesday discovered that the driver had been shot, according to Lee’s Summit police.
A passenger inside the car was seriously injured in the crash. The injuries for both men were considered life threatening, police said.
Officers responded to reports of a car crashing into a home about 2:30 a.m. Wednesday in the 500 block of Northeast Richardson Place.
Upon arrival, officers found two people seriously injured inside the car. They had to be freed from the damaged car, police said.
Once paramedics examined the patients, they determined that the driver had injuries consistent with the crash but was also suffering from a gunshot wound, police said. The passenger had sustained serious head injuries from the crash.
They were rushed to a hospital for treatment of their injuries.
The Lee’s Summit Police Department activated its Criminal Investigations Unit to investigate the shooting.
Anyone with information regarding the incident is asked to call the Det. Steve Owings at 816-969-1671.
