Police standoff ends with 2 men in custody after shooting in Pleasant Valley
A standoff after a non-life-threatening shooting in Pleasant Valley has come to an end Friday afternoon with police taking two men into custody, according to the Clay County Sheriff’s Office.
Police activity in the area forced the closure of the South Liberty Parkway between North Flintlock Road and Interstate 35 for several hours. The heavily traveled road is back open, according to the sheriff’s office.
Members from the Clay County Sheriff’s Office responded about 5 a.m. Friday to help Pleasant Valley Police investigate a reported shooting in the 9000 block of Liberty Drive, according to the sheriff’s office.
One person had been shot and emergency crews took the victim to a hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. Meanwhile, a person was barricaded inside a home in the area, the sheriff’s office said in a tweet.
Negotiators were on the scene trying to convince the person to come out of the house.
The standoff that lasted several hours ended about 2:15 p.m. with police taking two men into custody. No additional injuries were reported.
