Man dies weeks after being shot in Kansas City; police investigating homicide
Kansas City police launched a homicide investigation after a May shooting victim died this week.
The victim, identified by police as Anton Martin, 40, died June 10, weeks after he had been critically injured in a shooting.
Police officers were called to investigate the shooting in the area of Leeds Trafficway and Emanuel Cleaver II Boulevard around 9:15 p.m. May 24.
Police found Martin lying on the sidewalk with gunshot wounds to his chest and leg. He was taken to a hospital.
Detectives and crime scene investigators processed the scene. No witnesses were located at the time.
Martin died at the hospital June 10, according to an obituary.
Officer Doaa El-Ashkar, a Kansas City police spokeswoman, said police are seeking tips in the case.
Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call the TIPS Hotline anonymously at 816-474-8477. A reward of up to $25,000 is being offered for any information leading to an arrest in this case and other unsolved homicide cases.
